Raisa was raised by the parents of her in Los Angeles, California. Irlanda Almendarez and Italia Almendarez. Her first name, Francia, is Italian for France. Italia refers to Italy in Italian, just as Irlanda refers to Ireland. Her mother Virginia Almendarez has Mexican roots while her father, Renan, has roots in Honduras. Renan changed his name to El Cucuy just after Francia's birth. Renan is also a Latino top DJ from Los Angeles. Francia was raised in a family that was dominated by a famous dad and so did her sisters. Francia is fluent in Spanish and English. Francia started dancing when she was five years old. Parents were the ones in charge of enrolling her. They were not restricted to a specific style. The dance styles were all covered, including tap-dancing and Polynesian and hip-hop. Additionally, she took classes in karate as well as ice-skating. In her junior high year she also took classes in acting and modelling. Francia attended Bishop Alemany School in Mission Hills (California) for her secondary school education. She played on the cheerleading team of the school. While at school, she began to catch the eye of people in the modeling business. The model was hired for both national and print commercials.
